Oh 2019 you came quick. In fact I wasn’t quite ready for you! In reflecting on 2018, I would consider it one of the hardest years I have gone through. My life hasn’t quite gone as planned yet I am trusting in God and so grateful for all the good in my life since there is a ton of good. Some great things happened in 2018. One of which was an out of state move with my family to an amazing place close to our family. Goal setting this year and last year was honestly kind of hard for me, but creating a vision board this year excited me. A vision board is basically a visual representation of what’s most important to you. I am excited to share with you all today why you should create a vision board.
When I started the process, I didn’t want to stop! I got excited about all the things most important to me and things that I wanted to focus on this year. It made me think what is most important in my life and what do I want to focus my energy on this year? Ask yourself that. List your top 5-10 things that are most important in your life. How are you focusing your energy on these items?Â
Honestly, the vision board process sparked a lot of self-reflection. A few good questions to ask yourself are below.
What did you do great at last year?
How could you improve from last year?
What areas spark an interest to you this year?
What motivates you?
List your top 5 words that resonate with you on your life/and or you would like in your life?
What are your top 5 most important things in your life currently that you need to focus energy on?
What are your top 5 things you would like in your life? What do you need to achieve those?
Find visual representations, words, pictures, of your findings from those exercises above. I picked up about 5 magazines and pulled words, photos, and clippings from the magazines to fill my board. I left some room to add some other items as I get more into the year. Keep it in a spot where you see it daily to keep you on track. Celebrate your successes in achieving goals or milestones on your vision board. Life’s too short to not celebrate your wins.
After all it was just a really good exercise to find my focuses and make sure my energy is meeting those focuses. Now you have to share with me, is a vision board something you have done? Or are going to do now? Hope you enjoyed this post on why you should create a vision board. xo
